Business Presentation and Matching, How BI Expands the Market

Jamwaktu.comBank Indonesia (BI) is intensifying its efforts to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to upgrade and expand their market share through two main strategies: Business Pitching and Business Matching. This initiative is designed as part of BI’s commitment to strengthening MSMEs’ contribution to the national economy while simultaneously providing broader access to markets, investors, and potential business partners.

MSMEs are one of the main pillars of the Indonesian economy. BI considers increasing the capacity and connectivity of MSMEs crucial for boosting competitiveness and business sustainability. In several of its latest programs, BI positions Business Pitching and Business Matching as strategic tools to connect MSMEs with buyers, investors, and business partners at the national and international levels.

Business Pitching, Developing a Business Narrative that Attracts Investors

Business Pitching is a session where MSMEs present their business models, products, and development plans to investors and other stakeholders. This activity is typically conducted in a forum or event format facilitated by BI and its strategic partners. The goal is to help MSMEs develop a pitch deck a key document for attracting investors or buyers that is strong, clear, and business-friendly.

Through structured pitching sessions, MSMEs learn to convey the added value of their products, understand market needs, and improve their business communication skills. This strategy also helps MSMEs better prepare when facing serious investors or potential business partners who have specific criteria for selecting businesses worthy of support.

Business Matching, Bringing Business Actors and Potential Partners Together

In addition to pitching, Bank Indonesia (BI) is also actively conducting Business Matching—a meeting mechanism that connects MSMEs with buyers, institutional buyers, distributors, and other business partners relevant to their products or business sectors. This concept not only connects sellers with buyers but also builds connections that can support long-term business growth.

In practice, Business Matching helps MSMEs establish partnerships with stakeholders such as large retailers, exporters, or business aggregators that can expand their distribution networks. This approach has been identified as a practical solution to enable MSME products to penetrate broader markets, both domestically and internationally.

Program Impact, Increasingly Competitive and Powerful MSMEs

This BI program is not just theory. Field research demonstrates the synergy between Business Pitching and Business Matching has a real impact on increasing the capacity of MSMEs. For example, at the 2025 Indonesian Creative Works (KKI) event, facilitated business matching successfully recorded export transactions worth hundreds of billions of rupiah and opened up international collaboration opportunities for MSMEs fostered by BI and relevant ministries/institutions.

BI explained that this success is inseparable from their efforts to strengthen the network of business actors, associations, and international market curators. This synergy encourages MSMEs not only to survive in the local market but also to compete in export markets and face global challenges.

Comprehensive Collaboration for a Stronger MSME Ecosystem

BI also emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in strengthening the MSME ecosystem. This includes support from government ministries/institutions, industry associations, banking players, and the entrepreneurial community. This type of collaboration ensures that MSMEs receive comprehensive support from capacity building and digital readiness to access to financing and markets.

Furthermore, Bank Indonesia (BI) continues to encourage the digitalization of MSMEs as part of their business transformation, making it easier for them to access digital marketing and funding opportunities that are increasingly emerging in the technology era. This digital approach also helps MSMEs record business activities and streamline transaction processes more efficiently.

Looking to a More Inclusive Indonesian Economy

With its Business Pitching and Business Matching strategies, Bank Indonesia (BI) hopes that Indonesian MSMEs will be able to upgrade structurally and sustainably. This step is expected to further strengthen the role of MSMEs as drivers of the national economy not only as micro-enterprises, but also as strategic partners in the national and global economic value chains.

This program demonstrates that synergy between government policies, monetary institutions, and industry players can create new opportunities that are meaningful for the growth of MSMEs in Indonesia.
