Jamwaktu.com – The Tabalong Regency Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo) once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing local creativity through the 2025 Nan Sarunai Photography Contest. This photography contest was held to provide a space for local photographers to express themselves while highlighting the cultural potential and beauty of the area.
This year’s Nan Sarunai Photography Contest was held as part of a series of celebrations for the 60th Anniversary of Tabalong Regency. The contest theme, Capturing the Charm of the Land of Saraba Kawa, was designed to encourage participants to explore the aesthetic aspects of culture, natural landscapes, traditions, and social life of the Tabalong community through photography.
A Venue to Sharpen Local Creativity
The contest, held on December 13, 2025, at Pojok Kafe, successfully attracted the interest of local photographers, with a total of 62 registrants, of which 48 passed the initial selection process for judging. Participants came from various backgrounds, from aspiring photographers, students, to professionals, who enthusiastically showcased their visual creativity.
Rully Ferbriansyah, the committee chairman and Head of Public Information and Communication at the Tabalong Communications and Informatics Office (Diskominfo), stated that this competition is not just a competition, but also a medium for strengthening visual storytelling about local identity and values.
“We are holding this contest to provide a space for expression for people who enjoy capturing special moments with cameras, while also introducing the beauty of our region,” he said.
Categories and Winners
The 2025 Nan Sarunai Photography Contest was divided into several judging categories to ensure fairness and accommodate a variety of photography styles. The four main categories assessed were:
ASN Category – involving Civil Servants with talent in photography.
Student Category – for the younger generation who demonstrate creativity and unique perspectives.
General Category – open to the general public with a strong interest in photography.
Favorite Category – selected based on online public voting.
Diskominfo Tabalong awarded prizes to the 10 best winners from the various categories, including the favorite winner who received significant support from the public. This award is expected to motivate participants to continue creating and developing their photography talents.
Message from the Tabalong Regency Communications and Informatics Office and Hopes for the Future
The Acting Head of the Tabalong Regency Communications and Informatics Office, Eddy Suriyani, S.Sos., M.A., also delivered an important message when presenting the awards to the winners. He hoped this competition would serve as a momentum to encourage more residents, especially the younger generation, to not only enjoy visual arts but also play an active role in promoting the region through their creative work.
“Photography is a universal language capable of conveying powerful messages about our cultural and natural environment. We hope this creativity will continue to develop and help the local government convey Tabalong’s story to a wider audience,” said Eddy.
Positive Effects on the Creative Economy
The 2025 Nan Sarunai Photography Contest is also seen as an effort to strengthen the local creative economy. By providing a space for photographers to create, the Tabalong Communications and Informatics Office demonstrates its support for a sector that has great potential to attract public attention, including tourists and national and international media.
Activities like this are believed to have a multiplier effect: strengthening local pride, expanding the narrative of regional culture, and opening up collaboration opportunities for young talent with other creative industry players in South Kalimantan and beyond.
The Nan Sarunai Photography Contest 2025 is more than just a photo competition. For the Tabalong Communications and Information Service (Diskominfo), this event is a strategic step to appreciate local talent, strengthen cultural identity, and promote the region’s potential through inspiring visuals. With the continuation of activities like this, it is hoped that Tabalong will not only be known as a regency with a rich culture, but also as a center of creativity capable of competing at the regional and national levels.
